Virginia Shuts Out Florida State 2-0 In Semifinals of ACC Women's Soccer Championship :: The Cavaliers' de Vries registers her 22nd career shutout in the win.

CARY, N.C. - Jess Rostedt's goal in the fourth minute of action proved to be the game-winner as Virginia shutout Florida State 2-0 in the second semifinal of the ACC Women's Soccer Championship Friday evening at SAS Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. The win sends the Cavaliers to their second straight tournament final and a rematch of last year's championship game against North Carolina.

Virginia took an early 1-0 lead in the fourth minute of action as Jen Redmond fed Rostedt on a give and go. Rostedt, the ACC Freshman of the Year in 2005, was the first to reach the pass from Redmond in the box, dribbling around Florida State keeper Ali Mims and scoring her first goal of the tournament. It was also the freshman forward's team-leading ninth goal of the season.

A penalty kick was awarded to Virginia in the 58th minute of action when Rostedt was taken down in the box. Kelly Hammond took the kick and fired the ball into the lower right corner of the net for a 2-0 Cavalier advantage. The goal by Hammond was her fifth of the season and fourth career tournament tally.

Christina de Vries made two stops in goal for Virginia as she posted her ninth shutout of the season and 22nd of her career.

The victory moves Virginia to 15-4-1 on the season and into the finals of the ACC Championship where they face North Carolina on Sunday, November 6 at 2:00 pm. The championship game will be shown nationally on Fox Sports Net South, Comcast Sports South and Sun Sports on Sunday. With the loss, Florida State falls to 17-3-0.
